The BarkBox team is excited to announce a few things.
We’re happy to announce we’ve raised $5 million in financing. The round was led by RRE with previous investors coming back in including Resolute VC, Lerer Ventures, Polaris Ventures, 500 Startups, Bertelsmann and Vast Ventures. Stuart Ellman of RRE will be joining the board of directors immediately.
BarkBox began as a side project for the three of us. Being crazy dog parents ourselves we knew that there would be a niche group of other dog lovers who were obsessed with their dogs. What we didn’t realize was just how many of ‘us’ there were out there. To better serve this group we’re growing our company.
We are now Bark & Co. BarkBox is one of our brands, in addition to BarkPost and BarkCare (coming soon!) All of our products seek to serve the millions of dog parents around the world all the while focusing solely on the happiness and health of their dogs.
In addition to growing our current businesses, we’re working hard on a handful of products that will be released in the coming months. All of these will be designed to keep those noses wet and tails wagging.
Matt, Henrik and Carly
Here are a few of the nice things that our investors are saying about us:
“Having been a seed investor in BarkBox as well, I have been blown away with the market traction, the attractiveness of the pet parent market, and the deep understanding and experience of the management team. I look forward to great things from this company.”
– Stuart Ellman, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at RRE Ventures
“Resolute looks for opportunities to back extraordinary founders setting out to build iconic companies. BarkBox is just that. We’ve known Matt Meeker since the days he was running Dogpatch New York, and are convinced he and the BarkBox team will build the definitive premium brand in the pet market.”
– Mike Hirshland, Founder at Resolute.VC
“Investing in Barkbox was a no brainer – Matt, Henrik, and Carly have an awesome vision, are proven operators, and the space they’re going after is huge. Plus, combining content and commerce in this vertical hasn’t been properly attempted yet, and it’s an obvious category where this strategy can work.”
– Ben Lerer, Managing Director at Lerer Ventures
