We’re sniffin' around for an Email Marketing Director as we build out email marketing programs here at BARK. This email loving, belly scratching, analytics junkie will be responsible for executing all email & push marketing campaigns, list segmentation, analytics, reporting, template implementation, testing and content/campaign programming. This person will have a strong CRM approach and will love finding new ways to retain, refer and build relationships with our customers and prospects. The ideal candidate for the role is a master of data and analytics while also having a strong creative strategy to gain new customers. We want more and more dogs to join our pack so we can continue in our mission by making ALL dogs happy. 

What you'll do in this role:

  • Manage and execute weekly email campaigns:
    • QA and approve all email campaigns to ensure creative content, links, and copy are all correct
    • Execute A/B tests, ensure mobile/responsive optimization and assist in creative enhancements that will keep our channel innovative and competitive
    • Work with design and coding to ensure that templates render properly on desktop/mobile/tablet
    • Manage testing calendar with the emphasis on optimizing for higher open/click/purchase or engagement rates
    • Own the master email calendar across all BARK properties
    • Execute popover strategy and drive new ways to capture emails
  • Pay attention to analytics stuff (and analyze it!):
    • Track the success of the email & mobile marketing program through reporting and analytics
    • Monitor and maintain deliverability rate, unsubscribe rate and other metrics
    • Report weekly metrics and lessons learned
  • Orchestra mobile
    • Work within our mobile marketing platform to build and execute targeted push notifications
    • Coordinate campaigns between digital channels reflective of customer preferences
  • List Ownership and Nurturing
    • Partner with Dev team and use our software tools (eg Sailthru, Simon Data) to manage list hygiene, segmentation, etc
    • Pull customer data lists for sends
  • Relationship Building
    • Provide strong insight and strategy on retention efforts
    • Create innovative ways to connect with prospective customers through individualized messaging
    • Build referral process 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 4+ years of email program strategy experience desired 
  • Hands on experience building and deploying email programs 
  • Working knowledge html/web page building and coding
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous, fast moving office with lots of dogs barking
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented - can execute complex tasks flawlessly and with minimal oversight
  • Strong data analytics capabilities.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with the creative, product, data & engineering teams.
  • Experience with SailThru a plus!
  • Referral program build out is a nice to have!
  • Experience with Direct mail, SMS and Loyalty programs is a plus!
  • Must Love Dogs. A Lot.
