Simple & Easy Dog Birthday Cake Recipe

Cake ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (can substitute oat flour)

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce

  • ¼ cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)

  • 1 egg

  • ¼ cup water or unsweetened almond milk


Frosting ingredients

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 2 tbsp natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)


Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a small cake pan with a little coconut oil or cooking spray.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.

  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: Add applesauce, peanut butter, egg, and water/milk. Stir until well combined.

  4. Bake: Pour batter into the pan and bake for about 20–25 minutes, or until set in the middle.

  5. Cool: Let the cake cool completely on a rack (important so the frosting doesn’t melt).

  6. Frost & Decorate: Stir together Greek yogurt and peanut butter. Spread on the cooled cake and decorate with dog-safe toppings.


Tip: Always use natural peanut butter without added sweeteners — xylitol is toxic to dogs.
